Ok, just installed Windows 2000 and I like it so far. I was plesently suprised to see that my device manager showed my card as a 'Voodoo 3' and that my desktop was not 640x480x16 :)

However, I knew I'd have to download and install the Win 2k drivers to actually play games and what not. So I did this, and ran the 'setup' file, only to be presented with the following:

To install 3dfx tools, you must have a compatible 3dfx device driver installed on your system. Setup cannot continue. :(

I tried updating the drivers manually using device manager but that doesn't seem to help. Games such as Quake 3 just aren't running (even tried a reinstall on the new win2k partition), and half life is only running in software mode...

So can anyone help me? I'd be very grateful as I have a feeling Win2k will suit me better than Win 98 :) Thanks.

Which win2000 drivers did you get? The latest beta (1.01.04), or the retail 1.00.00 drivers? If you got the latest beta, try uninstalling any 3dfx stuff that may have installed, install the retail 1.00.00 drivers, then try the betas.

Well, tried the Betas and managed to get them working in Quake 3. Frame Rates are a little dissapointing though, but I suppose it at least works. Thanks.
