Hey all,
I haven't seen this particular problem posted for this board yet, but forgive me if I missed something. I have an MSI K8N Neo2, a Winchester 3000+, NeoPower PSU, BFG 6800 OC, and a 74 Gig Raptor (hooked up to SATA3). Windows install went just fine, so I began overclocking. I used memtest to max out my memory (with CPU multiplier low) and then used P95 and 3DMark to max out my CPU (memory divider used). I then used memtest, P95, and 3DMark to find a sweet spot between my two overclocks, and the system was P95 stable overnight (~8 hours).
However, I am now trying to install Alcohol 120% because I have all my games converted to image files of some sort, and it is a lot easier to load and play them with Alcohol then by swapping disks. As any of you who have installed Alcohol know, you do the install, then you have to reboot so the installation can finish. However, the first time I reboot, I never get into windows. I get to the "Welcome" screen and then get a hard reboot. The second time I always make it to windows where I am told that the Alcohol install is finished. However, Alcohol tells me that it cannot load the virtual cd-rom driver and that I need to reinstall.
This happens in this manner each time I try. I have tried a number of different ways, including going back to stock settings (200x9). If any of you have had this problem or read about it somewhere, I would be most grateful for your assistance.
Thanks,
Smithers
