HELP! I cant install any operating systems for some reason, neither windows 98, windows me, or 2000.

It all started when my computer wouldnt boot. It took my forevre but i finally took it apart and put it back together and it was running again. I had just got my new ibm 75gxp 30 gig, and was gonna try installing windows me on it.

Problem being is that everytime i try to install windows me or any operating system that is it crashes in the middle of it saying some kinda error. I thought it could be my scsi card and scsi cdrom so i took those out and still had the problem. I took out my network card and i still had the problem. I'm kinda outta things to pull out. dontk now why i cant install anything. I boot up fine now and no problems with that, but i cant install any operating systems. Anyone have any ideas?!?!?!

PLEASE HELP!

Try clocking the T-Bird down to the default speed and see if that solves anything.

Also, move the ram to another Slot

like vi said, set your proc to default speed. you mentioned that it used to work but now it doesnt, so try booting up with a floopy and check ur disk for erros, also hell, you might go as far as flashing your bios, try to setup your system with as little hardware as possible. what kind of errors are you getting when installing an OS?

Thanks, I put the cpu back at default and it installed fine. I overclocked again after and windows is fine again. HAH, i guess you cant install windows while overclocked.

THANKS!

A common problem of unstable overclocked systems is that you get CRC errors when trying to unzip compressed files. This is why you can't install Windows, because the *.CAB files cannot uncompress properly.I think that your system is still not 100% stable and you are going to find out this sooner or later.

why do you not think its 100% stable still?

i ran this program called CPU stability test for about 12 hours on my system before and i had no problems. My system was completely stable.

Since you can't install Windows at overclocked speed, something seems wrong.Try also other programs like Prime95 and CPUBurn.I was also able to run for hours CPU Stability Test on systems that proved to be unstable.Or try 3DMark 2000.
