Hey there fellas. I recently bought a barton xp2500+ processor , oc 2 x 256 pc3200 dual ddr ram, abit nf7-s mobo. NOw i didnt format my old harddrive and i had it partitioned. Theres too much space thats already being used in it and i dont want to delete it all, so i somehow managed to boot windowsfrom changing some windows drivers manually. The problem is that the video card keep conflicting, i tried updating the drivers again but its still bo use, the screen appears verry slowly. Also, the processor wheni checked in my computer reads it as a 3200+ (even in dos it says3200+). Im preplexed at this situation. I bought a 2500+ xp and it reads it as a 3200+ with 2.19gz as clock speed and 512 mb od ram. Im really lucky if i got a faster processor by chance, but i just have doubts. ALso, can u guys tell me how i can get rid of the raid option in dos, it keeps appearing and asks for some raid utility, then it starts windows in some time.

THanks

See if the bios has some way of disabling the onboard raid controller. What's your fsb speed it should be 166Mhz for the 2500. If your using a 200Mhz fsb your overclocking it
and that's why it says 3200. Since the 3200 has a speed of 2.2Ghz

Yeah, the 2500+ is 11x multiplier at 166mhz FSB = 1.83 ghz. If it's reading 2.19 then your FSB is set to 200 mhz. Go into Bios and lower the FSB to 166.

Actually you can leave the bus as 200. Many people buy 2500+ chips since tehy cost less than 1/4 a 3200+ and they're essentially the same because of the identical multiplier and because AMD's yields are so good now that the core quality of the Bartons are pretty much the same (ie 2500+ chips can run safely at 3200+). Just remember to change it back to 2500+ before flashing the bios.

well the temperature now is 43.50C and its overclocket to 200fbs at the moment and running at 3200+. I want to know what the ideal temperatures should be for the motherboard and cpu when overclockerd. THe mainboard temp is 36C and CPu temp is 43.50C at the moment. I have a 450watt power supply that has 3 fan speed settings and ivve put the speed to full at the moment. Im using the retail heatsink and fan for the xp2500+ chip. Pls let me know if i can carry on with thses setting or whether i should turn back to the original settings.

Thanks

Okay, i just noticed that when i tried playing quake 3 and started it, the system simply rebooted. Is this because i did'nt inchrease any multiplier or voltage settings? All i did was set the processor to 3200+ and put 200fsb. Everything seemsed smooth when i didnt start quake 3. I have a PCi card. THese are my normal voltage settings that i checked from the bios. Pls tell me if i should modify them.

Cpu core vltg = 1.65V
ddr Sdram vltg = 2.6V
chipset voltage = 1.6V
agp vltg = 1.5V

Could be that your board needs a BIOS update for a Barton cpu? Is your motherbaord BIOS current.

Also see if Quake will run with your fsb set at 166mhz.

well now im running it at 190fbs at 2.2 ghz and its running ifne. Yes it runs perfectly at 166mhz as well. THe tempp now is 49 C after playing quakew for CPu. I need to know what the ideal temperatures are for overclocking and normal preformance. THiis motherboard is version 2.0 Nf7-s and is the latest out there. Let me know botu the voltage seeting thta i need to make or not. Thanks.

Okay I increased my Cpu core vltg & ddr Sdram vltg by a point, overclocked it to 3200+ and ran QUAKE3. It worked fine, smooth and normal, so after about 20mins of playing I exited it and checked my temp, my cpu temp was at 50C and mainboard at 40C. I started up CPUIDLE and within 5mins the temps went down to 36C(mainboard) and 45C(cpu).
Should I stick with this or reset everything? I think if I played q3 a lot more the temp would probably go up(I also disable cpuidle during gaming cuz it slows it down) and I dunno if I should stick with these settings and continue using the comp normally.

Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
