Problems installing motherboard/Antec 300 case

I'm moving my parts over to an Antec 300 case and I've come across a problem.

The top of the heatsink backplate doesn't clear the window cut out for it and makes contact with the inside of the case. I have standoffs installed in the correct spots but they don't provide enough clearance. Short of cutting the opening open a bit more, which I lack the tools to do, I'm wondering what to do about this. I've thought about doing this:

Adding electrical tape to the section where it hits. Otherwise I could put some rubber washers between the standoffs and the case to raise the motherboard up enough to clear.

I've never seen a backplate before, it's been a long time since I worked with new PC hardware and these weren't around then...long time. I'm not sure if it's even a problem, I just don't know if those two screws/nuts at the top of the plate need to be kept off of the case's metal or not.

Any advice, or does it not matter if those two screws/nuts are touching the case? Thanks for any help, I'd like to get off my laptop sometime soon...

Those screws are probably just to hold the backplate on. If they were connected to anything, it would be ground, so them touching the case wouldn't matter. However, the electrical tape is fine too and I would just leave it on there since you already went to the trouble.
