problems installing ipod software =\

i just got my ipod today and have followed the install guide so far, but when i put in the ipod cd to install all the software it prepares to install then this error comes up:

1608: Unable to Create InstallDriver instance:
Return code: -2147221164

I have no problems with the install on my roomate's computer, it's just mine (also the only computer in the apartment with firewire).

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I dunno. When I got mine I just plugged it into the firewire port and it worked... of course, the firewire port it was plugged into was on a macintosh.

i reformatted my computer and finally got the software installed.

1 question, is it supposed to not show up as a removeable device while charging? mine is telling me it's charging, but the icon in the task manager has an x through it and it doesn't show up in my computer.

ok so disconnecting and reconnecting it finally made it show up. now i get to figure out how to make playlists and all that fun stuff in mmjb.

Use ephpod. I even showed my computer illiterate best friend how to use it and she loves it so much more than MMJB.
