a) I notice that the options "Enable users to rate me" and "Enable users to PM me" aren't in the signup form like they are in the profile, and...

b) If you put spaces in your name it returns an error? Lots of people have spaces in their name!
 
a) They aren't supposed to be those are options you adjust after being a member, and understanding what they do.

b) We do not allow any special characters in any nickname, this is due to people posing as other people using ASCII chars. IT is an option in the forum admin and was decided to turn it on due to the typical user problems.

b) But then how do people like "Locutus of Board" get their name with spaces in there? While it returns an error when I try?
 
Pepsi, remember most of the senior members have been here since October 1999 the no special chars in nick function was not put in to early 2000.
