Tonight I added a 256 meg stick of ram to me two 128 mrg stick. Then I started to intall 98SE over 98. When it restarted, it kicked my monitor off but the rest kept running. I had to hit restart to get it to kick the monitor back on. As it is booting up I get a bunch of system file errors fo DDEML.DLL, MCICDA.DRV, WINASPI.DLL, and DDEML.dll, so it attempts to reuse the old ones. It gets into windows fine after that. When I go to restart, it kicks the monitor back off again, and again doesn't turn the monitor back on so I have to either hit restart 8-9 times or the power button. Turning power on/off with the power button kicks the monitor back on and it starts booting then gets the same errors and says restart so windows can fix the errors, well, the same thing happens over and over. I have tried reinstalling 98SE but the same thing always happens when it restarts.

When booting it also says a couple of my sound card drivers are missing and that memory manager is missing.

Any help would be great, thanks. Oh yeah, in my frustration I went ahead and installed Win2K PRO. It seems fine.

Now I am pist. I just decided to do the 98SE shutdown patch. When machine restarted of course it had shut down problems, when I finally get back into windows my display is all screwed up and of course I can't fix it because it screws up when trying to restart.
