Here is the setup I am trying to get to work:
Soyo K7V dragon+
AMD 1800+ Athlon
DragonOrb 3+ Heatsink
1 x Infineon 512 mb pc2100 ddr Ram
Enermax Whisper 450 watt power supply
ATI radeon 8500 video card
I was all excited yesterday when I finally got all the parts I need to set up my new system. The only problem is that when I turn it on, nothing happens on the monitor or the pc speaker. The powersupply can be powered from the switch the connects to the board, but nothing happens. The leds on the board go on, along with the fans, but my monitor still senses no video signal. I know the Radeon 8500 works, because I tested it in another machine. The video card does receive power from the board, as it heatsink spins. It may be interesting also to note that when a floppy drive is connected, it is not read when a boot disk is placed in it. I think the motherboard is not really doing anything.
It seemed best to remove everything but the video card, motherboard, cpu/heatsink, and ram to try to trouble shoot this. I have cleared the cmos to make sure it was not the problem. Tomorrow I will call soyo if I cannot figure this out on my own. Hopefully I am overlooking the obvious and it is something really stupid I am forgetting, but I followed the installation manual completely.
Thanks for any suggestions,
BubbaG
