problems getting on the net with AOL

I have a customer that cannot get on the internet using AOL. They connect at 50k on a USR 56k external modem, but cannot go anywhere. They can't check their mail, or go to any webpage. The modem works fine doing EFTs. AOL blames it on IE. Internet Explorer is upgraded to 6.0. I told htem to try another phone line...not sure if that will help...any other suggestions?

Reinstall AOL. Reinstall IE. Bitch at AOL if they're blaming an external product for their own product not working.

While all that's going on, sign them up with another provider. 🙂

AOL is a virus that I usually remove...joking aside my mom has IE 6.0 and aol ( may not be the latest version, but close since it updates when she connects) and she is fine.... I think it is something else as well...AOL always tries to blmae others for their crappy product

Yeah...I don't like AOL my self. I think it may be something with just upgrading AOL. They had originally version 4 or 5 and just kept upgrading to see if it would fix it...I'm wondering if I can just remove it completely and just install version 8, as well as sp1 for ie6...

just keep in mind that AOL is 26 bill in debt , and Microsfot offers a good service for dialupers or even earthlink

You should be able to uninstall it and even save their address files and other key stuff and then just load version 8...I agree some of the biggest crashes on my mom's system has been do to upgrading the program over the interent or it being cut off in mid download of upgrade.....
