problems getting computer to post

I recently bought a new case for my computer, and I moved all my old stuff over into it. Unfortunately, I cannot get it to post at all, even in the old case. Here's the weird part: Even when I have it stripped down to just the power supply, proc, and mobo, everything starts up automatically when I plug in the power supply. Also, I cannot get it to turn off, even after shorting the pins where the power switch connects. Any thoughts? It's an Intel board with an old P3 500 (don't laugh).

Try reseating the processor, video card and memory.

pull it all out of the case and try it , sounds like you have a short . if that works the reinstall very carfully and use the insulator\washers.
