For the last few years I have been using an SMC7404WBRA Barricade ADSL router. A change of house necessitated a new ISP account which came with an Orange Livebox. This only has two Ethernet ports so I purchased a Netgear FS105 switch. I wanted to keep the Barricade so that I can use the network printer function and have connected the system as follows:
ADSL > Livebox > FS105 > Barricade
However, the system wont recognise the Barricade now. The network lights are lit on the FS105 and Barricade but pinging the Barricade fails. I have disabled the WAN and DHCP functions on the Barricade and the FS105 is Autosensing so what am I doing wrong. Is it that you cannot use the Barricade as a switch only? I am using Vista Home Premium with the network set to ?private network? and ?network Discovery? is on. The ?Network and Sharing? map only shows the Livebox (but never has seen my Squeezeboxes).
Thanks for any help!
