Problems connecting to Linksys WRT54GS

I'm trying to get my laptop to connect to a friend's WRT54GS router and not meeting with any success. I have a built in 802.11b adapter in my laptop. He added my MAC address to the filter list, and I have 64bit WEP enabled. He has mixed mode enabled so b and g adapters should work. The network icon in the system tray detects the signal from the router and gives a signal strength, but if I try to view available wireless networks, nothing comes up and the network property page shows the adapter is sending packets, but not receiving any. Any ideas? I'm not well versed in wireless networking, so if additional information is needed, just tell me. Thanx

- Does the router broadcast it's SSID? It is one of the biggest reasons, why it doesn't show up on the list.
- Check that the connection's WEP password is keyed in exactly the same as it is set in the router and that the type method is correct (in HEX or ASCII)

It's also possible that your built-in card may be incompatible with the router. I know this sounds strange but it is possible.
