Problems burning with CDs almost filled to capacity.

Ok, this seems to only happen with 700mb/80min cds. First off I have an HP 8100(4x write 2x rewrite 24x read) burner. I have tried using both Nero and Adaptec Easy CD Creator(latest versions out right now). Here is what happens. I basically have data nearing about 700mb of data, I am using a 700mb CD and the burn goes fine, no problems what so ever. I put the cd into the cd rom and it tries to spin it up but doesnt read anything. It either says it is unacessable or says there is nothing on it. I look at the bottom of the CD and it was burned on. I go to nero and look at the cd info and it shows it as almost full but cant see any data on it.

Now, the weird thing seems to be the table of contents or the lead in and lead out. They take an extremely long amount of time. For instance, I was just backing up 695mb of data off my ahrd drive on a cd and the burn goes fine, the lead in at the start goes fine but it gets to the lead out (this is in adaptec easy cd creator by the way) takes a long time. I basically let it sit there for 6 minutes doing the lead out then i just shut down my machine by pulling the power. In Nero it doesnt keep going like that but it takes a hell of a long time. A few minutes. I seem to have no problem burning a good amount over 650mb on a 700mb cd, I am not sure exactally what the problem is but i am pretty sure at a certain amount of data is screws up like that. I mean, it screws up even if I have 690 on there and that should no be a problem since it says the cd has a capacity of 702mb.

This is extremely frusterating. I have spent hours and hours trying to figure out what the hell the problem is. I have spent a lot of money on these damn cds and i have not been able to solve the problem. I am also pretty sure that on CD to CD copy the table of contents doesn't take nearly as long.

Anyone have any ideas? Does it have something to do with the settings? Should I start a multisessions? Should I close the disc? Should I do DAO? I mean this is really pissing me off to say the least. Some people told me it was nero but Adaptec did the exact same thing. I would really apreciate some help hehe. Ugh this is a pain in the ass.

I just tried a burn in Nero and after it finished with the Track the lead in and lead out at the end took 1minute and 40 seconds.

Oh and in nero it said the in the top corner that it was 696mb in size and 79minutes long.

Also, I have tried ClondCD and it says it won't burn with my burner. I try to burn the image after I ripped it but says not compatable.

Argggg, i swear I am going to rip my hair outta my head one of these days. lol, ya i am just a bit pissed off, just wasted 15 bucks in a few hours

i must have wasted a good 40 or 50 cds since i got this burner

Hi

Your recorder is not on CloneCD recommended hardware list, this possibly explains the message.

I have used Nero on several burners and the lead in/out always takes about a minute.

EZCD coaster got that nick name for a reason.

Make sure you have the latest ASPI installed.

A lot of the 4X write burners don't handle 700mb CD's well. I use Nero, and after I upgraded to a Panasonic 8X I never made a coaster except on overburn CD's. Might be time for a hardware change or stick with 650mb.

I was reading somewhere that HP writers can only burn to 78minutes and 30 seconds. Is this true? Because if it is that is the exact problem I am haivng. Seems to make sence.

i had an hp 4x and was never able to fill a 700 meger and have it be readable no matter what i used, now i realize what happened, yeah man it's your burner, sorry you made so many coasters
