Problems Burning in Nero

I just got a Yamaha 8832 and have been testing it out in various programs over the last few days. It works fine in CDRWin and Easy CD Creator, but I can't seem to burn anything in Nero. In both simulations and real burns, the program will work perfectly fine until it's burned 7%-8% of the disk (with the buffer never dropping under 95%), but at this percentage, it will suddenly nosedive and empty out, always resulting in a bad disk. I've tried setting it to burn at 8x,4x,2x, and even 1x, but no luck - it always does this. DMA is enabled on the drive (though I've also tried it disabled), and it is the master on the motherboard's Primary IDE with no slave (my hard drive, a 7200 RPM Western Digital, is the Primary on a Promise Ultra ATA 66 card). I'm using Windows 98 SE and have all the latest drivers for my hardware and the latest patches for all relevant software. Does anyone have an idea of why this would happen? Thanks for your time.

Nero and EZ-CD at times don?t like to exist together, try to a clean install of Nero on a Drive that does not have EZ-CD.

You don't have that DirectCD program sitting in your system try do you? I've heard that people with the two on the same system had problems with that thing sitting in the system tray. Once they disabled it, things worked fine. I have both on my Win2K system... EZ is burning fine, but Nero has an unrelated SCSI/IDE problem that won't let me even start a burn. Not EZ related though.

By the way, anyone have the 4.03 patch? Freaking ever since Adaptec moved everything over to Roxio, they haven't put anything up on that support/downloads page... damn them!
