Problems burning DVD+RWs

I'm hoping someone can offer some insight.

Recently got a LiteOn LDW-411S.
With latest firmware updated.
Running XP Pro with all updates.
Install went fine and I've burned several backup movies and data dvds onto +R disks using Nero 6 and Copy2DVD.

The problem is that I can't get the DVD+RWs to format even, let alone burn.
Neither the DVD+RW that came with the unit nor the any of the Memorex 3-pak I purchased.

I even updated WNASPI directly from Adeptec to no avail.

This is part of the LOG file generated by Nero when I tried to burn a data file to DVD+RW:

Have you tried updating the firmware? I read that certain firmware versions don't play nicely with +RW. I didn't read your post thouroughly-you have updated the firmware. You may still want to try a different firmware version.

I can't even get them to format, so no.

The really weird thing is that I can burn +R's no problem at all.

You don't need to format rw's. Stick em in, check if they're blank, if not, you erase it, then burn like any other blank. I have same drive as you and it burn's the rw fine.

That's just it... I stick them in, I know they're blank and they won't burn.
So I try to format/erase them thinking that might help and they won't do that either.
I'm starting to wonder if I don't have a defective drive.

Trust ...no need to get hit yourself in the head. I'm learned my $100 lesson. It's memorex...they're evil. Sent about eight 25 packs back to amazon.

Currently I suggest 100 pack 4X Fuji DVD-R at Fry's for $139 ($1.39/each) or DVD+R (I use +R myself) TDK 4X DVD+R 15 pack at Costco for $26.99 ($1.80/each)

I've had problems with my 451 and Nero, too with +RWs. Data verification fails and erasure causes the program to lock but complete successfully. The included Sonic RecordNow bundle that came with it works fine, though. Firmware was updated before I used it.

I guess you could try using the latest nero too. I've had cd burners not get recognized by nero, but a newer of version of nero worked fine.
