Problems building a machine

I've just build a new machine with the ECS K75A MB and a Athlon 1.4 Ghz chip. Everything went well, but I just cannot make the CD-RW and the DVD-ROM work together. Everytime I have both installed, the damn machine will not boot. I've already set one of the drives to slave and the other one to master, but no sucess. Any advice or suggestions someone can share with me?

Try one drive at a time, then try placing them on different IDE channels, then try Cable-select. Check out all those IDE-related settings in BIOS, too.
