Hello,

My friend recently bought a Radeon 9600SE to upgrade from the integrated video on his Asus A7U8x-LA motherboard. When he installed the card, the pc would not even post. He said if you start up the computer and insert the new card while its running(not sure if this could harm anything or not) and restart, it works fine with the new card, but if you shut down it will not boot with the new card in place. I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a conflict with this motherboard, or had any idea what the problem might be.

Thanks

I didnt insert the card while the computer was on, he did it and told me about it, i now have the card and computer here to try to get it running for him. Anyway, I've tried to disable the onboard in the bios, the only option in the bios for this is either ...... PCI ...... or ......AGP/Onboard ...... no direct option to disable the onboard video.

Heh well i had prepared myself for that possibility. He said hes going to try to take it back and get an Nvidia card, not sure if they'll let him take it back, he got it at Best Buy. I suppose it is possible that the mobo has a conflict witht that card. Anyway, I'll see what happens, thanks for trying to help anyway.
