Having this weird problem with video playback on my computer im not sure going on here. First I thought it was a codec problem, then DirecX then I thought maybe its a video driver problem (it still may be).
Heres whats going on. Any video source I try to play all i get is a black screen with audio only, the only thing that works is a DVD. I can't see any of the follwing type of video files (streaming video, AVI,MPEG, etc..)
First I uninstalled my codecs and rebooted and had same results. Next I downloaded the latest edition of DirectX rebooted and still same problem. Next I went too see if maybe i needed to update the video drivers for my computer, but im not completely sure which one I should get. I tried calling HP for tech support and felt like the guy was trying to get rid of me, plus he was no help at all. Just Told me I needed to download the latest edition of Windows media player, I told the guy no matter what Player I use i get the same result & he still told me I needed to do it. I tried it knowing that wouldnt do anything to solve my problems and of course it didn't. Even VideoLan player, a player that will play basically anything you throw at it gives me a black screen with audio.
Can anyone please suggest a solution to fix this ? I have tried everything I can think of.
Thanks in Advance,
JT
