Hi friends,

I am a new member of this forum and am also new in overclocking. I recently bought a new pc with the following configration:

E5200
G31 S2l
2GB Kingston 800 mhz
Bijli cabinet with default 450w Zebtronics smps
500 GB HDD Seagate
15" CRT monitor (OLD)
LG DVD writer

I overclocked it on stock cooler and am running it at 3.05 ghz (10x multiplyer with 305 fsb) with normal temp. at 42C and max at 62C on full 100% utilization tested with Orthos and Everest.

My problem is sometimes after normal running of 1-2 days, my system automatically goes back to 200 X 10x = 2.00 ghz.

Pls tell what could be the problem and how to correct it?

might be a Vdroop problem what volts did you set it at? ive got a XFX 680I LT SLI mobo and i got it safely to 3.45GHZ and a 1200MHZ FSB at 1.5V but if i go any higher the comp will lock at random times due to voltage drops

You shouldn't need 1.5V to reach 3.45Ghz. That's dangerous to your CPU.

If it's a Gigabyte motherboard, be sure to remove USB gadgets before rebooting.

There is an option in BIOS to mimimize risk you're experiencing: disable USB Legacy. Still, my Gigabyte P35 DS3R sometimes reverts to stock FSB, leaving vcore, multiplier etc as they were.

Sometimes your settings in BIOS aren't saved after changes; turn off PC, power off PSU and take out the PSU power cord for a few mins - always helped me (and many other P35 owners)
