ok, i gotta make this short because im falling asleep, and have to wake up at 7:30 for work.
on sunday i disassembled my comp to make it neater o nthe inside and prepare for my ata/100 card. reassembled with cables nice and neat. didnt change any settings but moved my drives around. the entire time, i made sure i touched metal before touching a component. also made sure i handled drives safely.
plugged it all in, turned on comp, DISK BOOT FAILURE
tried different master/slave settings, even booting from floppy. gave up
today, i took out everything cept for one proc, one dimm of ram, and my floppy, slowly added proc and mem as i booted off of floppy.
added HD, detected in BIOS, wouldnt show up in fdisk, NO FIXED DISK INSTALLED
took out 20gb and put in second system, tried to slave to copy some files, wouldnt recognize in win98.
fdisked, and copied 98 install files too it. also sysed it.
put back ever so carefully into my comp, and tried to boot off that after detecting in bios. BOOT DISK FAIL.
sys specs:
Asus P2B-DS w/2 PII-400
256mb ram, i want to put 384
20gb WD caviar (main)
18gb WD expert (files)
please try and make sense of this, ill explain more tomorrow
also, my 18gb wont even detect in bios, had this problem before, fixed it, and forgot how. im bout to flash bios, and clear cmos, and start from scratch. thanks in advance
