I cant even create a new folder after this happens. Its been tried on 3 machines - using both SD card readers and also builtin slots. The files are on a thumb drive and total about 300 meg. But the cards are 1gig. Iv also tried two separate cards and they both have the same problem when getting into the 320+ files range. I was able to take a number of the files and place them in a directory that already existed on the SD card that was used in a camera. But I cant move them up to the root dir to allow them to be accessed by the Dig frame.

These cards are no more than about 2 weeks old and have only had about 200 meg on them max.

Any ideas?

Really strange.

The early X86 disk organization structure implemented by Microsoft had a 512 file root directory limit. There was no such limit in the subdirectories, only in the root. Maybe the memory cards in question have a similar limit (and perhaps a similar file structure allowing for subdirectories).

All flash type cards, or drives are formatted using Fat 16 (that I'm aware of), for compatability with older machines.

Anyway, the problem occurs when all 512 root directory entries have been used. The solution would be to put all of your files in subdirectories. This will avoid the problem completely.

I dont think the digital frame will recognize any files in subdirectories.

If I format it with fat 32 will that help at all?

You can format them to FAT 32 Via windows, that would fix the problem. But, I don't know if your device(s) will be able to read them or not with FAT 32.

It should work with subdirectories! Try it first. And I mean just one subdirectory for all the pics you have.
