My computer is crashing almost every time I am online. It only does it when I am online. I have an athlon 1.4 with ecs motherboard, 256 ddr ram, 40 gig maxtor hdd, running on xp. I thought the problem had gone away this morning, I opened up several windows and it didn't crash and then this evening it did it again when I was looking at the hot deals forum. I am thanking in advance anyone that can help me.

I am running on an athlon amd 1.4 ghz cpu, ecs motherboard, 24x lite-on crdw drive, 40gb maxtor hdd, ati radeon le graphics card, 256 mb ddr ram,
us robotics 56k fax modem, msn is my internet provider, anything else you want to know you will have to be a little more specific I am really knew at this stuff.

How is it crashing? Freezes up? Any error messages? Reboots itself?

What application were you using when it crashed? The browser? We're you scrolling a page? Changing web pages?....

The browser I am using is msn and it is freezing up. As a matter a fact it just did it in the middle of me replying to this message.

Maybe a hardware IRQ conflict. Is your mouse USB? Maybe try a different slot for your modem if the slot it is in shares with USB especially, or try a standard mouse. Just guessing but its worth a shot.
