Problem with XP Pro, Outlook 2000, and dialup

Ive installed XP pro and office 2k on my parents new machine (they have an old machine with 98se and office 2k).

When I connect (via dialup) on the new machine, and "Send and Receive" in outlook, it sits there for ages, and eventually times out. Plug the 98 machine back in and it works fine.

Settings on both instances of Outlook are identical (apart from me upping the timeout time on the machine with the problem, for testing purposes).

Anyone know of this problem - could it be something somewere else within XP that Im not aware of?

Please help - I'd appreciate any thoughts on the problem.
