Hello everyone.

Heres what happened:

I was playing Company of heroes on my x1900xt (not overclocked) when I receive a message from my ati drivers that my card was overheating and that it was going to be underclocked. I kept playing as I was in a match at the time. It repeated this message 3 more times. Right when I was quitting the match my computer froze. I hard rebooted and I received a message in red on top of the screen (before anything else posted) that my video cards fan may be broken, etc.

I again rebooted and it started into windows. About 20 seconds later on my desktop the computer froze again. I had to turn off the PSU just to restart. I went to my bios and was checking for settings that I could change and it froze again in the bios.

The video card showed 74C while playing the game. The fan was spinning when I checked the video card. The last time I tried to reboot and got it to stay up for longer then 30 seconds I checked the temps again and it said 49C. I did not smell anything funny coming from my computer but it seems my video card could be burnt.

So heres my questions!

1. Is my video card burnt? Do I just need a new HSF for it? Any way to salvage my situation?

2. I purchased this about 6 months ago from newegg. Can this be warrantied if it is burnt considering I never overclocked it?

3. If theres nothing I can do what video card would be a decent replacement Im looking at the 350$ and less range. But if there is something that is cheaper but similar to my x1900xt that will hold me off until the new cards get cheaper let me know.

4. Thanks!

assuming it had a warranty longer than 6 months, contact the card manufacturer; you should be able to RMA it and get a replacement.

Thank you for your response.

Heres an update. The card has a 3 year warranty so that would fix the problem Ithought I had.

But now, I just plugged in my 7600gt and I get 1 long post sound when it boots. It does get to windows but in windows after about 5 minutes it hard freezes. Can only be reset by holding down the power button.

So it seems to possibly be my motherboard.

What do you guys think?

Thanks
