Problem with x1900xt 512MB with Asus P5NSLI board

Hello all. I recently built two identical systems, and they are both having the exact same problem so I know it's hardware/driver related.

They are C2D systems using the ASUS P5N SLI board /w Sapphire x1900xt 512MB boards. Latest drivers and BIOS updates. Antec 500W power supply feeding it, I believe 17A on the 12V rail the video card is using -- should be more then enough.

In games, they both seemingly randomly crash with the exact same error:

"The driver ati2dvag for the display device \Device\Video0 got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates a problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly. Please check with your hardware device vendor for any driver updates."

Anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this? The only references to the problem I can find involve older VIA based chipsets.

You do have the Asus P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe, correct?

I ran my motherboard with an X1900XTX prior to my SLI set with no issues, so that's the only thing I could think of...

edit... my bad, you have the nForce 570 board... duh...

Sounds like a problem with the video driver ... what Catalyst version are you using?

there are many people having problems with a 1900XT and C2D Asus especially SLi mobos I think.

Yeah, most of them end up making threads talking about how the X1900XT is crap instead of realizing that it is a P.I.C.N.I.C. error.

Pardon my ignorance on this subject, but why would you want to use an ATI video card in an Nvidia SLI motherboard?

Wouldn't you want to use a motherboard that can do Crossfire video (in case you want to go the dual video card route in the future)?

Or conversely use an Nvidia video card in that P5nSLI motherboard.

Still having the same problem

How would this be a "PICNIC" error? Latest drivers and bios', identicle systems, same problem. Is there something obvious that I am not doing?

What version driver? Latest 6.9 driver from ATI? CCC installed with .net 2.0 ?

I tried two Asus X1900 XT cards, and neither would even boot with the Asus P5N-SLI board. Got beep codes, then nothing. System boots fine with other video cards.

Are these problems happening with any nForce 570 or 590 chipset boards, or just Asus boards. And if just Asus, what about their other boards with Intel chipsets. Same problems?

Make sure you have the latest BIOS and chipset drvers for your system.

Because many people like nVidia chipsets and ATi video cards.
