Problem with WS FTP

While I'm using WS FTP, when I change the CHMOD, it seems to set the CHMOD for all files and folders to that value, and not just the one file or folder that I had highlighted and right clicked on. Anyone heard of this?? Or am I making some newby mistake hehe?
