problem with win2k and network browsing

hi i was wondering if anyone could help me with this wierd problem. i have 3 computers networked 1) win2k machine as my nat/firewall 2)win98se machine 3) another win98se machine. everything has been working fine for the last 4 months or so and just this weekend i can *see* my win2k machine anymore.

i can still find it on the network using find/computer/"computer name" but i can't see it browsing my network neighborhood. i check to see if all the setting are right still and they are using tcp/ip and ipx(games) and the workgroup is still the same. the only computers that i can see in the network neighborhood is the 2 win98se machines but no win2k. anyone got a solution?

First thing I'd check for is any changes in users/permissions - NT is fussy about security. Also, when it stopped working had you made changes in firewall or network settings, installed a new internet program, etc. - if so, that's where I'd start the troubleshooting.

obenton, what should i check in the user/password area? i haven't changed anything except passwork never expires but it still worked for a while after that. i did install the new black ice defender ver 2.xx (don't remember the exact version number) up from 1.9.4 or something like that i thought it was that at first and turned it off to see if the machine would show up and it still doesn't. thats all that i have changed. i don't use that machine much so i don't install alot of stuff.

Black Ice, then, might be blocking access from the LAN. Check the manual to see if it does this, and how to configure it so it doesn't. Easiest fix might be to install Netbeui as the default LAN protocol - it would not be affected by NAT or firewall software.

black ice never had a problem b4, i checked the settings and all i can do is add the ips of the otther comps to the trusted list which i already did. wierd thing is like i said b4 u can find the computer but u can't see it in network neighborhood. does ipx get blocked out by black ice? i got that install also. one other question doesn't netbui slow down ur network?
