Problem with Win2k and logging in

I'm at the computers in our school. In my networking class we were told to change the workgroup we were on to the same one. We decided to change it to COMPNET. I went to System Properties, Network Identification, Network ID, Next, This computer is part of a business..., Without Domain, COMPNET, Next, Finish, Reboot. At logon, I pressed Cntrl-Alt-Del, typed in the user name and password, and got the message: "The system could not log you on. Make sure your user name and domain are correct, then type your password again."

What's wrong? I am in Win2k. We did this same exact procedure on the other identical systems, and encountered no errors. Please help, my teacher isn't even sure of what to do.
