PROBLEM WITH WIN XP

I installed win XP rescently, but it gives me an error at startup about there is no paging file and that it created a temporary one. I went to control pannel and ajusted the virtual memory but dosen't allow me to change. It doesn't solve the problem. What can I do to solve this problem? (I upgraded from Win 2000 professional to Win XP)
