I use the webhost http://www.liquidtornado.com, and I have the most basic package. Out of the blue I just tried to SSH in today, and I was able to get in with the FTP username and password. Well I thought maybe I should ask them if it is enabled or not, might get a surprise bill from them. So I emailed them and asked. They told me that it can be enabled for a one time fee of $5.

So basically I can SSH in, but I am not really supposed, and I don't think they know about it. Report it, or just keep my mouth shut and not SSH in again? What I am scared of is some overzealous techie thinking I hacked their servers

Looks like the hosting company's website is down. hehe, well I have personally never noticed any downtime in the past year I have been with them, so I don't care if their website is up or down.

Another thing, every web related program, such as Apache, Perl, PHP runs as user "nobody". This isn't a problem until I installed Gallery V. 1.4. One of the features of Gallery (I think) is that you can just create a folder in the appropriate folder, and just FTP all you pictures into it and Gallery will display is as an album. No need to use Gallery's upload feature. But since everything runs as "nobody" including Gallery, it won't let me put anything inside the albums that were created using Gallery.

Gallery has a reg file that adds it to Windows XP Publishing Feature. It's great to just grab a lot of files and then upload them. You can also create folders and decide what folder the new pics will go to.
