Problem with Volume Control...HELP!!

My girlfriend accidentally deleted the Windows multimedia set-up. So now she's running a silent Windows. I have tried deinstalling the multimedia features through control panel and reinstalling them back. This still couldn't fix the problem. On the windows task bar, there isn't any volume control icon... Please help!

Make sure that the sound card is recognised in the Device Manager and that the sound card drivers are installed. Windows will not show up the speaker icon unless a soundcard and its drivers have been installed.

Also, go into Multimedia in the Control Panel, and on the Audio tab, make sure that show volume control on the taskbar is checked.
