Problem with VIA VT8237 and WD SATA hard drives?

I have experienced several problems with using Western Digital SATA hard drives with motherboards with this chipset. There a about a million posts on the internet from people that are having the same problem - always the same chipset and hard drives. Has anyone found a link to a website that explains why these problems are occurring and if there is a fix?

No, but if their past experience with VIA chipset is like mine, they will avoid it.
