Problem with Vantec Nexus 301 transistors?

I'm looking at the Nexus NXP-301 fan/light controller for the machine I'm currently building, and I came across this review on the newegg site:

"My unit has a problem where the lights will not stay on even when the light control is turned all the way to the right. Vantec acknowledged this problem after I showed them this link: xxxxxxxxx) and that I've experienced the same problems. The support guy said that there may be a bad batch of transistors that are overheating."

Does anyone know any more info abou this issue? I've searched google but haven't been able to find anything, and as usual newegg deletes all url's from the feedback... Anyone know what this person is referring to, and is it an ongoing problem?

[edit: or... has anyone here bought one of these in the last month and not had any problems with it?]

Nope never heard a single thing. We've gone through a couple hundred of these and no issue's with them at all. I'm sure if there was a situation we would have known from Vantec.

But If I hear anything I'll let you guys know.

Actually, I am experiencing that EXACT same problem. I bought mine from Directron.com and they sent me a replacement which STILL DOES THE SAME THING.

I actually saw one review linked on Vantec's website that said something about "The lights are stuck in Voice Activatecd Mode until we rebooted". But mine would just stay on constant at boot-up and then start flickering randomly from time to time. The stability varies - sometimes it stays on without flickering for 20 minutes, sometimes 5. But the thing is, yes it flickers (both my first unit and the replacement unit)

I seriously don't know what to do about this. Every review site I went to seem to have had a nice experience with the 301.
