Problem with v8200 deluxe

Last July I purchased an Asus V8200 deluxe, and it has be flawless until recently. I play a lot of counter-strike, and I always had 100 or 99.9 fps at 1024 x 768 regardless of what was happening. All of a sudden a couple days ago, my fps started dropping from 100 to as far as 40 fps when encountering a battle. I did not change any setting previous to this occuring, and I cannot figure out why it does this now. I have tried reinstalling the NVIDIA 23.11 driver, and installing the 21.83 driver. I also tried reinstalling my monitor driver. I even went as far as completely reinstalling my os, win XP, as well as the drivers. I set my settings to what I originally had, and tried new settings as well yet nothing works. I have never attempted any overclocking either. I have 1.4 ghz amd chip, 512 mb crucial ddr ram, and a A7M266 motherboard. I would appreciate any help. Thnx.

Same thing happened to me. I found it was my RAM running at CAS2 when one of the sticks was CAS 3. I dropped it down to CAS 3 and it was fine. Check to make sure your RAm is ok. Take a stick out and see how it runs then swap them around to find a faulty stick if there is one.....😉

Is your AGP bus running at 4x in the BIOS? Have you properly installed the AMD AGP driver for your motherboard?

If push comes to shove, try a friend's video card. If it's a fast card and still runs slow, then you know it's a setting you have. If your GeForce3 runs in your friend's machine poorly, then you know it's probably the video card.

Good luck!

I checked both and they were fine. I tried the asus driver as well, still no luck. Should I try win98se instead of XP?

My brother has a PIII 500, would that be able to handle the geforce 3 if I were to test it on his computer?

I just tried playing counter-strike at 640x480 resolution....my fps still drops to 50 fps. This makes no sense at all.
