Problem with TBSC

I have this odd error from my device manager with Turtle beach santa cruz sound card. There is a exclaimation mark next to "santa cruz game port".

Error message reads:

This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

Any help or suggestion would be appreciated to resolve this. Thanks alot.

How many PCI cards are you using? Have you tried changing the PCI slot that the card sits in? (Move it from slot X to slot Y?)

I am using two PCI slots, one for the sound card and the other for NIC. I have not tried switching PCI slots, but I'll give it a shot tomorrow.

Does your motherboard have a built-in sound card?

Yes, I have it disabled in the BIOS.

 

As MichaelD already posted, move the card to another slot. Also try shutting down unused devices and com ports in the bios to free up resources. Find out what device the game port is conflicting with.

Yes, I have it disabled in the BIOS.

Make sure to also disable the MIDI/game port and its I/O address.

Forget the BIOS. This is a documented issue with nForce2 boards and some sound cards. It's strictly a driver issue with the sound card. You can try this:

This fix works with the 4186 beta drivers, but should work with the 4184 betas as well. I can't confirm if this will work with any of the older drivers, but it might. It might very well work with other sound cards that are having this problem with Windows98 too.

If you have the TB Santa Cruz drivers installed, uninstall them. Reboot your system and cancel out when Windows tries to reinstall the audio device.

Go to the Device Manager, right-click on "Computer" and select properties. Click on "Reserve resources", then reserve I/0 address 0200-020F. Then go and reinstall your Santa Cruz drivers. This will cause the gameport to be installed with non-standard I/O settings, which will get it up and running...

Beta drivers are up to v4187 now.
