i just hooked up a friend's computer to a pair of old speakers. the speakers works fine on my computer, volume is good, etc. but on this new computer, the volume is too small no matter what i do. Any help?

i have no idea what the motherboard is, but it has onboard sound and audio. Its an SIS board, and i just upgraded all the drivers. the volume and everything is turned up to the max, but there's no volume control nob in the computer.

try looking in the control panel for volume control.
(sounds and multimedia properties--show volume control on taskbar)
Other than that, most on board sound requires powered speakers.

i tuned up the volume control to max on everything. still getting almost no sound. i guess i do need powered speakers then. darn.
