Problem with Soyo Dragon+ and Ti500 cards??

Can anyone expand on this? I know I read somewhere, either in a review for the Dragon+ or on a forum, that there seemed to be a problem when pairing a GF3 Ti500 card with a Soyo Dragon+ motherboard. I can't find that link anywhere, and I can't remember exactly what the problem was, but it seems like I remember them saying that there was either a conflict or that there was something about the board that wasn't allowing the Ti500 cards to operate optimally.

Did anyone else happen to read what I did? I'd like to read it again...

I have that mobo and card and trust me no one is dumber than I...and it's running fine for me.

However,.... I need help with this...I NEED 4 USB ports.. (I have 4 USB devices I must have hooked up at all times)

Now of course, it comes with the two right on the back. I wish they would have included a-la my MSI mobo a connector to give me 2 more on the back.

My Question: How do I get more than 2 USB ports? I know it can have up to 6.... annnnd...

How should I set up the USB so it all will work in my BIOS? (all enabled???)

That is my dillema 🙂

If you install the smartcard reader in a bracket in the front of your computer then you will have 2 extra USB ports (which work fine for me)
Connect it to the MB and enable at least 4 USB ports in your BIOS.

That's all

good luck

There have been reports of issues, particularly under 98/ME, with VIA-chipset based mainboards and a wide variety of AGP cards.

Make sure you've got the latest BIOS for your mainboard, install the latest 4-in-1 package, apply the latency patch(es), and use a stable set of Detonators. I don't recommend 23.xx, especially with VIA-based boards.

Jack: I didn't want to take up a spot for the smart card reader as I will never use it. I am trying to find a bracket that just screws into the back of rig, and plugs into a USB header.. It seems no one has these anymore.. Only PCI ones, or a hub.

Where is the latency patch? Should you install it under any OS?

Also, which set of Detonators do you run/recommend?

You can find the 4-in-1's as well as patches @ viahardware.com.

As for Detonators, I'm using 21.83. Never had an issue with them. After these, it seems the 22.x and 23.x started being issue-prone for many users.
