I just got a new computer yesterday that has a Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer sound card, and Windows XP Home. The sound card doesn't play sounds, and I'm sure that the speakers are plugged in correctly. I also downloaded the updated driver for Windows XP. I also ran the sound setup test in Windows XP, and it says that my system cannot play sounds. I'm going to email tech support tomorrow, but I'd rather get it fixed now. Does anyone have any ideas?

You need to first install the Audigy drivers off of the Creative CD, THEN install the WinXP update. Otherwise it won't work.

Soooo, delete the Audigy from your devices menu, and then opt not to install the drivers when windows asks. Instead, put in the Audigy CD and install from there. Reboot, and install the *UPDATE* from the creative site.

Did you check in your AudioHQ whether or not your audio is set to "digital only"?

Damn, I'm having the same trouble. Uninstalled a Live! card, installed Audigy, installed stuff from CD, rebooted. Installed XP update for Audigy gamer, rebooted. I have sound and my games sound great, but when I go to control panel -> sounds -> voice -> test hardware, it tells me that my hardware cannot play sounds. Because of this error I can't use MS gamevoice. WTH? My sound works fine but this says it doesn't. I'm going to try a few other things and see if I can get it, if I do I'll let you know.
