I have a thermalright sk6 and when I install it one edge is resting on the upper ledge of the white zif socket. Is this right? The way it is designed with the clip it is impossible to put the heatsink entirely on the cpu. Thus the heatsink doesn't make contact with the core. This is my first system and I'm guessing that you have to have contact between the cpu and heatsink. What do I do? I will try to post pictures. Also, is it recommended to remove the pads and use just a plain shim?

Figured out the heatsink issue. just flipped it around and it fits fine. But should I remove the pads and let the HS rest on the shim. Its one of the weird brown thelagmite whatever shims for the xp.

If you're talking about the pads on the core, don't remove them. You'll probably
lose them and as luck would have it, you'd probably end up needing them some
time in the future.
