Problem with signature links?

Is there a forum problem with signature links now to other threads. The ones in my sig are acting stupid - it's inserting extra characters. It looks like this when I enter it:
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=45&threadid=947494
but after I hit Update Profile, it becomes this
http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=45&threadid=947494
After the catid=45& is amp;. Where's it coming from? And where'd it go?

Ok, this is really weird - here's what I've done:
I just noticed a few minutes ago "My sig links aren't working." So I went to change them. Inserted between the catid=45& and the threadid=947494 in the link, is amp; stuck in there just like that, no spaces or anything. I notice too that every time I hit Update Profile, it adds ANOTHER instance of amp; to the link.
Now just above, in the second URL there I actually tried typing in the amp; manually because the first time I just copied it in from my Profile, it went away when I posted! And it still won't show up!

Just did a test with my sig - I entered amp; in plaintext in the textbox, and Updated - nothing appeared for my sig then.

It's not just you.

They did something to prevent people from using CSS to format links in sigs and it seems they may have messed up the linking.

CSS format? Haven't heard of that.
So can't we link to threads anymore now at all? Is this just a quick-fix until they come up with something better?

What they should do, IMHO, is just filter the javascript tags that are the real problem. Or parse the links to remove anything including and after the first quotation mark (if the CSS is really that big of a deal after all :roll😉. But maybe for some reason either of those won't work, so instead the linking just has to be broken. :frown:

Cool, thanks.🙂

What is CSS?
Cascading Style Sheets - one way of applying a format and layout to web pages and the objects therein.

Would like to know myself, as I don't want to be a gunea pig by updating my .sig and finding out that all my links are broken until Fusetalk 4 comes around (or whenever they plan to fix the patch that messed this up).

Oh, ok....but, isn't it disabled now? How'd you make it work there if a) CSS is disabled, and b) the fixes prevent links from working?

It's still borked. I just tried to put a link to my FS thread in my sig and I got the same garbled link. Results in a Error 100... 🙁

It's only there because you already had it in when they disabled it. Next time you do something to your profile it will no longer work.
