Problem with shutdown/backup hanging - Windows 7 / P67 Deluxe

Not sure if this is strictly a Windows 7 issue or hardware/bios issue.

I have a Asus P67 Deluxe mobo.

This just started about 4 or 5 days ago.

Noticed it when the comp would not shut down.

I have the comp scheduled to backup the system and files on a 2TB WD Caviar Green Drive. The drives it is backing up are a 160GB OCZ Vertex SSD and a 1TB WD Caviar Black HDD.

Backups are scheduled daily.

Noticed that backups hang anywhere from 72% to 84% complete. If the backup is hanging, the computer will not shut down...just stays on "SHUTTING DOWN" screen. Also, can not stop the backup when it is hanging...just stops with the message in the box saying "stopping" after I press STOP BACKUP.

Otherwise the computer boots, shuts down, restarts, etc... normally. But I can no longer backup the system.

I did a chkdsk on the 2TB drive - no issues. Was backing up fine as of a week ago.

Any ideas?
