When I click on SETIDriver to begin running SETI, it gives me a dialog box to select a CLI Client. No matter what I select in my
SETI files I cannot find the right option. HELP! Please!

It sounds like you are clicking on the NEw Client button, which is used for updating the SETI CLI client. Download or copy the SETI CLI client back in that directory, and change the Desired Cache size to hold a few days worth of WUs. It should start working, if not, click on the Transmit button.

(I got confused by that blasted New Client button myself a few times)

Good luck! :)

Sorry przero, I had to go to bed...

You may have to re-download the SETI CLI client Here

And be sure to check out the how info Here

And feel free to post any more questions you have, someone will be along to answer them! :)

Well I lied. I'm not up. SETI Driver will not process any files. 0% CPU usage. Which is why I clicked on " new client" in the first place. Any ideas?

If all has failed then try reinstalling it all (seti driver, CLI, and whatever else you have)from scratch. you may want to keep some of the log files - .csv? and such but I had the same problems (kinda) and a total reinstall from scratch worked like a charm.

Tell us the info on your SETIDRIVER. What does the following have?

Processing:
Waiting to Process:
Need to Fill:
Ready to Transmit:

And what are your proxy/server settings, if any?

Thanks! :)

Processing: 1
Waiting to process: 39
Need to fill: 0
Ready to transmit: 0

Sent some data in and it would not start to process.

Well it looks like SETIDRIVER thinks that it is processing a WU, and you have plenty in the cache, so it's connected and downloaded WUs at one point.

How long have you let it sit there and process? These SETI WUs take awhile to process. Even on the fastest processors, it takes over 3 hours. Mine take ~8 hours on an AMD Duron 650@850.

przero,

Sometimes we download "FAT" Work Units. It seems to happen more than just randomly on people's 1st WU!

This is how to get rid of a (that) WU and try the next one.

Open SetiDriver and uncheck HIDE PROCESSING. You will probably see a DOS TAB in your tray that is identified as "SETI xx". The "xx" identifies the WU number you are working on.

Now shut down SetiDriver by clicking on the EXIT button located right under the TRANSMIT/STOP TRANSMIT button.

To make sure it is off, do a CTRL-ALT-DELETE and check your Processess Tab. If you see "setiathome-3.03.I386-winnt-cmdline.exe" listed there, click it to highlight it and then click on END PROCESS. Sometimes that executable doesn't shut down when you exit SetiDriver. ;)

Browse to your Seti folder and now delete the "xx" folder.

Now assuming you created a startup shortcut, go to START/PROGRAMS/STARTUP/SETIDRIVER.EXE and restart SetiDriver. Watch it a few minutes ... it should start showing some progress in the bottom bar pretty quickly.

If this fixes the problem, recheck HIDE PROCESSING and click on the SAVE CONFIG button to register your settings.

Let me know if this did the trick. :)

I reinstalled everything and got it going again. Thanks for the advice and the tips. I'll save all this for the next time. Thanks again. By the way why the different processing times. Mine vary up to 50 minutes (2 hours 50 min. - 3 hours 40 min.) with nothing else running.

It depends on the angle of the WU you download. Higher angles process faster while lower ones take longer, sometimes much longer. I just let them crunch on through although sometimes the real low ones get misplaced somehow:Q j/k

Below is a link to data I generated many months ago to analyze different AMD platforms. It shows the classic processing time curve for WUs - from VLAR to HAR. WU Analysis
