Problem with Serial Port & Palm Vx

Not sure if this is a hardware or software problem but here goes: Suddenly my Palm Vx won't sync with my Outlook 2002 on my XP box. I get an error message on the Palm that it can't make a connection with the desktop. I've tried reinstalling the Palm software, tried another serial port, tried another hot sync cradle, uninstalling and reinstalling the serial ports through device manager, and I also ran a software app from simtel that's supposed to help troubleshoot serial ports. Nothing has worked.
Any suggestions?
Tia for any info.

If anything else has been on the serial port, you might get a problem like this.
You might want to manually select setting for the comm ports instead of selecting auto.

Make sure there's no problems in the device manager.
Try assigning a different IRQ in the BIOS.
Make sure the Baud rate matches the Palm.

I've actually seen BIOS' disable Serial ports for no good reason. (Sometimes done if you had a power outage or had to do a hard shutdown)

First and foremost, make sure clean the metal connectors on your Palm with alcohol and q-tips. That happened to my Palm V also when I started troubleshoot the serial ports and speed and all that.

Let us know how it goes, and then we deal with the driver, COM port etc.
