Problem with screen resolution on laptop

The laptop should display up to 1024x768, and it does work fine when I don't have the Intel graphics driver installed. However, once I install the graphics driver (latest version) only 800x600 appears fine, 1024x768 is stretched out horizontally. Help please! Thanks!
