I have a amd k6 box with 192 Mb and 27.9 Gb. When I try to run scandisk or defrag I get an error message which tells me I do not have enough memory to run them. Is this a virtual memory or swap file problem. I need some help.

Thanks in advance......

Sounds more like a Win98 Resource problem. Here's a pretty good work around for that if you can't find out what is causing it.

Use your Emergency Boot floppy and boot to DOS with CD support. Then run Scandisk from the DOS prompt. It will find any errors such as lost clusters and fix them. Then all you need to do is run your defrag in Windows.

Take a look at what TSRs are active (Ctrl-Alt-Del) when Windows loads. Close all of them except for Explorer and SysTray and then try defragging.
