Problem with resizing a partition under vista

I have a 320Gig disk that I made the C partition too small on but when I shrink the D partition it always puts the free space at the end which means I can't enlarge the C partition. Is there any way to get the Vista tool to put the free space at the front?

I don't think Vista will move partitions, just shrink/grow them.

Yeah, you could try NTFSResize. It's not a Windows program but you could use a livecd.

I was afraid of that and I guess I have to find another method (like the ntfsresize) to do this.

Wouldn't this work?

Shrink D: and create E:
Move the stuff you want to save from D: to E: and delete D:
Expand C:
Expand E: and rename it to D:

I was thinking of something along those lines as a last resort.
