problem with repeated dissconnecting

every time i run a P2P app (kazaa,overnet,shareaza) my interent connection cuts out and i have to unplug my modem. useing ipconfig release and renew just comes back with an error. any idea what could be causeing this? i tried reinstalling my nic card drivers and then i switched out the card all togerther. tried a complete wipe and reinstall of the OS and still no luck. also ever cople of 5-10min a message will pop up saying that a cable has been disconnected and then a secound later it reconnects.

I would check with your ISP. Sounds like maybe the modem itself is defective if you have already tried another NIC (and hopefully another network cable as well.) Good news if you rent your modem like I do, crappy news I suppose if you bought it.

ya i have another modem that i can switch it out with but comcast charges me like $15 every time i switch modems so if the modem isn't the problem it's a waste of $30. because i'd have to switch it back to the first one.
