Problem with registry.

Hi all,
Every now and then, when I boot the computer, just as the icons are loading on the desktop, I get an error that there is a problem with the registry and windows will shut down and restore a good copy, which it does. This has been happening a little more frequently lately so I reinstalled windows on top of the existing installation but it's still happening once in a while. Short of reformatting, reinstalling, etc., does anyone have any other suggestions?
Thx
G.

Are you overclocking? Overheating CPUs or CPUs that just can't handle the speed are usually the main causes of Registry errors these days. You may also want to check you RAM. If you have a bad stick, it will also affect writes to the Registry.
