Problem with rebuild

I recently upgraded my dads piece, and decided to replace the mobo, vid card, and cpu with a A8N5X, AMD 64 3200+, and an nvidia 7600gs. I reused the PSU(350W), ram, HDD, and an optical drive. The problem arose when I went and plugged everything together. With just ram, vid card, cpu plugged in i can get past the splash screen and even enter bios and of course get the Boot Disk failure message. Now whenever I try to plug in the HDD the comp freezes on the mobo splash screen and I can't enter bios setup or anything. I tried plugging in a different HDD with the same result. This makes me think that the system is either underpowered or there is a problem with mobo and ide connections. I don't have another box I can test these theories with since i'm at my parents house atm, but anyone have any other suggestions or thoughts?

Hi, HDD with XP moved from one MB to another MB usually does have problems. If you could boot from the XP Install CD you might be able to get it up with a repair. At this point you may be faced with a reformat and reinstall of everything. MAYBE! Funny Win 98 would just grumble a bit, come up and let you load the new drivers.
Good Luck, Jim
